>Keep the Change by Nirupama Subramanian

>

Keep the change is Nirupama Subramanian’s first novel and I decided to go for it after reading the interesting summary. Now I don’t regret choosing this novel to read ,as I enjoyed it thoroughly.

B.Damayanthi, is an endearing character throughout the novel. She suffers from a mid-life crisis and has a feeling of having-done-nothing-in-life-till-now,thanks to her orthodox upbringing and the still-single status. One fine day she decides to break the ice and moves on to get a new life. She meets new people and a new lifestyle. She morphs and becomes Damayanthi Balachandran. Her character is so practical and realistic that it is very easy to relate to her.

The secondary characters in Keep the Change are also well written and well defined. One more interesting aspect is that the novel is in the form of personal letters written to a best friend,Victoria. It’s clear, precise, funny and a joy to read.

Keep the Change, is a charming collection of personal letters, which can keep you glued from the first page till the end.For the lovers of women fiction, this is a novel that’s not to be missed.Nirupama Subramanian is one author to look forward to.

    >I loved her easy style of writing... and my favourite quote from the book is " In this unfair world, a boy looking like a constipated blob of ectoplasm can aspire to get a fair, beautiful, well-educated girl who can do the Bharatnatyam while singing Meera bhajans and make ten kinds of rasam..." ....:) :) :) ....
