“Koni the story of a champion” is a story about true sportsmanship. Kanakchampa Pal ‘koni’ is a poor tomboy who lives in a slum. She spends all her time with the boys and loves sports. Koni is someone with a lot of determination and passion for sports.

Kshitish Sinha, a ruthless but determined and reasonable coach, is one with an eye for talent and knows exactly what to do to make it rise. Kshitish is sent out of his swimming club, Jupiter, when he sees Koni and is determined to make her a champion . He gives Koni a job, and he pushes her hard every morning and night to become a champion at Jupiter’s rival club Apollo . Koni herself has a rival ,Hiya .When she is asked to go along with the other girls to be part of the Bengal girls team for the championship, she goes with them only to be mocked and humiliated by the other girls from her team and wasn’t allowed to take part in anything until the last min when one of the girls gets the cramps .But when the time came, it was thanks to koni that the Bengal girls team won the championship!

This story is one of real determination, grit and sportsmanship .It displays the passion one can have for sports. I would say that anybody who has a connection to any sport would like this book as it reveals what hardwork does for a person and talks about the attitude one needs to have for sports . I think that this book is written with passion and faith.

The book tells us how hardwork pays off. I connected most to the actual races .The thrill and adrenaline of each race is something that I know and admire. I also admired the determination with which Koni takes up most things in her life, and that should be of great value to everyone.

The book also had some humour which I for one, quite liked . I wouldn’t really change any part of the book because I think any book does need all these different aspects of life.
