>Three Men In A Boat by Jerome K. Jerome

The book begins with the narrator, J and two of his friends, sitting at home tired of their dull lives. They need a break, not just to have fun, but to get rid of the chronic case of hypochondria that they seem to have! Eventually, they decide to go boating on the Thames. The three men(who are, incidentally, all terrible boatmen) pack their supplies and pile into a skiff, along with J.’s hurricane of a dog, Montmorency and set off on the two-week long trip. Little do they know how…

Battle For Bittora by Anuja Chauhan

ANUJA Chauhan’s second book, Battle For Bittora, will make you LOL (laugh out loud). Crafted around the Lok Sabha elections, this romantic comedy brings to the reader a rather “cute” (if I may) version of the Great Indian Democracy, by marrying politics and pop-culture. Draped in humour, this book makes for a rather fine reference as to how the young view life today. With her characteristic wit, the author manages to successfully infuse the shady goings-on in politics with an element of “cool”.

The author’s strength lies in her characters:…

Corporate Atyaachaar by Abhay Nagarajan.

When on the 19th of last month Booklover enquired if I would like to review ‘Corporate Atyaachaar… the comical journey of an office doormat’ by debutant author Abhay Nagarajan… I was more than glad. I feel reading the works of debutant authors… is akin to opening a birthday present. One is unaware of the contents… yet is excited about finding out.

‘Corporate Atyaachaar’ rhymes with and reminds one of its distant cousin… the more famous (?) ‘Emotional Atyachar’… featuring Abhay Deol. ‘Corporate Atyaachaar’ is by his namesake. No… Jhumpa Lahiri…

>Discworld by Terry Pratchett

The Discworld series is a comic-fantasy series written by English author Terry Pratchett. It consists of 39 novels, 6 short stories and a couple of more books based on the Discworld. There is no one continuous story as such, it is a collection of stories that take place on the Discworld.

The Discworld is a bizarre planet moving along somewhere in space. There is a flat disc-shaped world, which rests on the heads of four huge elephants, who are standing on top of an enormous turtle named the Great A’Tuin,…

Ruskin Bond’s Book of Humour.

This is my first review on this blog… and I have chosen to write about Bond. No… not James Bond. This is the other bond, Ruskin Bond, and he is quite famous in his own right. Yes Sir, he is! Well, in the same breath, Yes Madam, he is! I am all for equal opportunity/affirmative action… you see! Infact, I will begin by writing about his book published in 2008 – ‘Book of Humour‘. It is a book I can read over and over again. And… so can you.

I…

>Stargazing – The Best Love Story of the Last Fifty Years 1960 – 2010

 Content and Review LindyLouMac
This poll was organised by the Romantic Novelists Association in conjunction with the magazine Woman’s Weekly.
Linda Gillard one of my favourite authors has just been announced as the winner of this award for her most recent novel ‘Star Gazing’

Linda Gillard lives on the Isle of Arran and is pictured here with her trophy. It was apparently pure coincidence that the trophy was in the shape of a star, but rather appropriate.
It was a well deserved award as you will know if you have read…

>Lucy Sullivan is getting married By Marian Keyes

Review by SmithaI have been a big fan of Marian Keyes since I read her ‘ Anybody Out There’. ‘Lucy Sullivan is getting married’ is a regular chick-lit with all the elements in place. Lucy Sullivan works in a boring office, in London. Her work mates persuade her to come with them to see a psychic. Lucy goes, despite being bankrupt and having no faith in fortune tellers. The psychic tells her that she sees marriage for her in the not too far off future, with someone who is not…

>The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

Book Reviewed by Girl.
Enough cannot be said about this book! This has to be, hands down, one of my favourites ever!
                               DON’T PANIC!
The story begins one murky, thursday afternoon when Arthur Dent finds out that his house is being demolished to make way for a new bypass. As he is lying down in the mud in front of the bulldozers (protesting that he was not made aware of this until yesterday when he went down to the planning…

>Size Matters by Judy Astley

Book Review by LindyLouMac
Judy Astley is an author I have been reading since she published her first novel in 1994. They are generally an enjoyable light romance/ chick lit type novel, nothing brain stretching but usually fun.
This one made me laugh but I think it is far from the best of her novels.
The protagonist Jay works her way through a selection of diet options whilst awaiting the imminent return of her cousin Delphine from Australia. Jay lives in a chaotic household with her husband three children and almost…
